Leonard R. Causland

Leonard grew up in the small agricultural community of Goshen, New York. Early in life, he developed interests in history and architecture that lead him to pursue an Associate’s Degree in Architecture from Orange County Community College of New York in 1979. He continued on to earn his Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture in 1983 from the New York Institute of Technology at Old Westbury, on Long Island.

Although a true son of the Empire State, Leonard heard the call of the West and upon graduation headed to Denver. He was fortunate to be hired by Peter Witter as an intern for Witter Architects of Keystone, Colorado. In 1984, computer aided drafting (CAD) was a new frontier and Leonard’s responsibility was to learn and implement the new technology. After Witter Architects relocated to California, Leonard knew Colorado was his true home and remained to establish his own practice.

In addition to architecture, Leonard’s love for the Colorado lifestyle includes agriculture. He co-manages Maryland Creek Ranch near Silverthorne, where he raises Scottish Highland cattle for show and sale. Visit the website www.onefuzzycow.com for a pictorial glimpse into the historic past of Summit County, where the original buildings and stockyard still remain.

Leonard and Janet have worked together as a full service architectural collaborative since 1986.
